Furniture Care for timber products

For the longevity of your timber furniture, it is important that you follow these care instructions. For care of upholstered products, please refer to the product care label fixed to the underside of the product or contact the manufacture directly.

Cleaning:    We only recommend cleaning your timber furniture with a damp sponge and a mild detergent if required. Once the piece has been wiped clean it is important to wipe it dry with a soft cloth. Failing to do this may, in time, result in a build up of grime.

General Care:    Never place timber furniture in direct sunlight, over, under or in close proximity to heating and or air-conditioning vents. As timber is a natural product it will continually expand & contract. Failure to meet these requirements will result in moisture gain and or loss increasing the risk of excessive timber movement. Under no circumstances should timber surfaces be covered with glass or plastic for an extended period of time, this will cause the lacquered finish to sweat and potentially de-laminate.

Hot Items:        Never place scalding hot items directly on to any surface of your timber furniture. As a general guide, if an items too hot to hold in your hand, it's too hot to place on your timber surface. If you are in doubt, always use a coaster or similar covering to protect your timber surface.

Spills:                Never let liquids pool on any timber surface. Excessive dampness will result in seepage under the lacquer finish causing it to de-laminate. Spills must be cleaned up immediately with a damp cloth and dried with a soft towel.

Waxing:           We do not recommend using wax or silicon based polishes on your furniture as these products require continual upkeep. All timber furniture should be regularly dusted using a damp cloths and then dried with a soft towel.

Unless otherwise stated, Purdys Furniture warrants their timber furniture products (manufactured on-site) to be free of manufacturing defects for a period of 2-years from the date of purchase by the original purchaser. This warranty does not apply to accidental or intentional damage, neglect or exposure to extreme conditions, commercial use, timber pieces used in wet areas or outside or failure to comply with the furniture care instructions herein or after contained. A limited warranty will apply to un-stained product as timber left un-sealed can show excessive movement causing detriment to the overall structure of the piece. Please be aware that this warranty is in addition to your statutory rights. Should any item(s) be found to be defective within the 2-year period, simply return the item(s) at your own cost to Purdys Furniture, along with proof of purchase. Products will be repaired or replaced at the discretion of Purdys Furniture, free of charge. Item(s) will then be made available for collection at your own cost. IMPORTANT NOTE: Freight is not built in to our pricing structure, therefore, freight is not included in any warranty claim. We only use and recommend professional furniture carriers to move all of our items.
Items not manufactured by Purdys Furniture carry their own varying individual warranties along with your standard statutory rights.

 

Delivery Information
Purdys Furniture employs a professional furniture removalist who operates every Friday. Trucks are loaded from 8:00am and usually run to around 4:00pm, dependant on the work load on any one day.  Delivery times are booked in 2 hour windows to allow for delays in traffic and other complicated deliveries. Our driver can also give you a call 30mins - 1 hour prior to arrival if requested. Please note that due to safety reasons, our carriers can not remove their footwear however, they will make every effort to ensure they are clean. You may wish to lay a non-slip floor covering down for them to walk on if required. Carriers must have clear access to their delivery destination, please have the room and path clear before they arrive. Carriers are not expected to carry furniture along un-made paths, up un-trafficable gradients or over barriers such as fences. Once the carriers arrive, they are allocated 20 minutes to unload your goods, any additional time spent either waiting for access, assembly of furniture or additional time spent due to a difficult location, a further charge of $120 per hour will apply. 

Payment:
Our carriers are permitted to accept cash or credit card upon delivery although they do not carry change.  

 

 

Refunds
Purdys Furniture has a "no refund policy" unless the item is found to be defective.
If you buy goods and later decide you don't want them, we will not issue a refund.

If you have bought goods that are found to be defective, you may return them in their original condition with your proof of purchase and goods will be repaired or replaced. If there is no replacement available, a credit note or refund will be issued. This does not apply to sale items which have been reduced due to a known defect. If management does decide to issue you with a refund on non faulty goods, a 20% re-stocking fee will apply.
