The end of an era...

After a long history of manufacturing custom timber furniture right here in Briar Hill, Purdys have made the decision to 'Pull up Stumps' and close the business.

With the Victorian Government ban on timber logging, we no longer have access to our beautiful, sustainable timbers such as Victorian Ash, Wormy Chestnut & Mesmate. We feel any other Australian timbers are either unsuitable or supply will be so limited that we won't be able to obtain the quality or price we require to continue to make affordable, custom timber furniture.

Although there are still imported timber options available, it doesn't sit right with us as a proud Australian manufacturer that we'd be forced to use something other than Australian materials so for that reason, we're calling it a day with our morals intact.

From humble beginings as a second hand furniture store in a leaky old shed, making recycled timber furniture from old Baltic Pine flooring, Purdys has come a long way thanks to our hard working staff and very loyal customers and to all of you, we say thank you.

Our final trading day for the Purdys Showroom is Saturday 9th March although our workshop is still busy completing current orders. Any remaining stock after this day will be advertised on our social media pages until SOLD OUT.

To all of the many thousands of customers who have a 'Purdys' piece in their home, we say thank you very much, we definately couldn't have done this without you...
